Sunday Staff Spotlight Meet Mr. Hummel ~ Physical Education Teacher How long have you worked in the district? This is my 20th year at Walworth Joint School District #1 as our K-8 Physical Education teacher. What activities do you enjoy outside of school? I enjoy snowmobiling, seeing winter’s landscape,and being a youth coach for my daughter Kate’s softball and basketball teams. What’s the best thing about working in the district? Having the ability and flexibility to teach a wide range of students each day. What is your proudest accomplishment? The experience of bringing our child into this world, my educational degree/certifications, and the smiles on my youngest student faces. What are you passionate about? Being involved within our community...from being involved with Big Foot Ball and Glove for 20 years, volunteering on committees/projects, coaching youth, coaching high school baseball for 10 years, the current head softball coach at Big Foot, and being a certified DNR snowmobile safety instructor. #WalworthSundayStaffSpotlight #WalworthJ1

Sixth grade students spent the early release day working on a Pi Day Webquest. They also worked on an Albert Einstein Pi Day coloring activity where they had to learn and practice new addition strategies to choose the colors. #PiDay #WalworthJ1

Guest speaker, Mr. Gutierrez, visited 6th grade guidance classes during our Diversity Unit. Students played "Simon Says" in Spanish. This activity allowed for discussion and education about world languages, as well as acceptance of different tradition and cultures. #WalworthJ1
