Students in grades 3rd-5th recently attended an after-school MakerSpace class. During the class, they drew a picture and outlined it in black marker. That picture was then scanned into our Glowforge, a 3D Laser cutter, and cut out with the laser. #WalworthSTEM #WalworthJ1

New for 2019 we will be featuring Walworth School staff members in a Sunday Staff Spotlight. Walworth School Sunday Staff Spotlight Meet Mrs. Veillon ~ Student Teacher in First Grade How long have you worked in the district? What is your education background? I am a student teacher from UW-Whitewater for Mrs. Wenzel for the first two quarters of the school year. Tell us about your family. My family consists of my husband and I, with our dog named Diesel, and our three horses Lady, Jolie, and Cadence. What activities do you enjoy outside of school? Outside of school, I enjoy training horses professionally as well as teach riding lessons. I'm always teaching! My favorite thing to teach is barrel racing and rodeo drill team. When I'm not teaching, my family and I enjoy rodeoing and spending time together. What’s the best thing about working in the district? The Walworth community has an amazing family atmosphere to teach in, and learn in as a new teacher. I have really loved my time with all of the staff and students and will greatly miss it when I complete my student teaching. I hope to come visit and sub for the remainder of the year to visit my new friends. What’s your favorite food or restaurant? My Mother and Step Father own a small pizza restaurant in Wonderlake, IL called Paulee's Pizza. Not only is it my favorite restaurant, but it is also my FAVORITE FOOD. Growing up I also worked there which was always fun. Our family doesn't make cookies for Santa we make him Pizza! #WalworthSundayStaffSpotlight #WalworthJ1

Meet Mrs. Veillon
Our junior kindergarten students have been listening to many stories pertaining to winter and all of winter-fun. We have had guests read about hibernation, snowmen, and all of our winter gear, including MITTENS. On this particular day, we were overjoyed to discover dozens of BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE mittens on our school property. They are PERFECT! We think "they fell from the sky" and are so grateful and thankful for the special gifts. #WalworthJ1
