Meet Mrs. Dowden ~ Third Grade Math Teacher
How long have you worked in the district what is your education background?
This is my 6th year teaching here at Walworth (5 years in 3rd Grade and 1 year in 4th). Prior to teaching at Walworth, I taught 2 years up in Coleman, Wisconsin (way up in northern Wisconsin).
I grew up in the Walworth area and actually attended Walworth and Big Foot High School for my schooling. After graduating from Big Foot, I went on to Beloit College where I got my Education Degree and played collegiate volleyball.
Tell us about your family.
My family is made up of my husband, Mike and our 4 little girls who bring so much joy and happiness to our lives. Mr. Dowden is a math teacher at Big Foot High School and also coaches football and girls basketball there.
What activities do you enjoy outside of school?
Outside of school, I really enjoy…spending time with my family, coaching volleyball, and watching Home Improvement shows like Fixer Upper and Property Brothers.
What’s the best thing about working at Walworth Jt. District #1?
The community that supports and surrounds the school.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
Teacher (I loved playing school) or an Orthodontist (I didn’t want to have to work in people’s mouths though.)

The junior kindergarten children took a walking field trip to Taqueria La Frontera! They were given a tour of the grocery store and then enjoyed a delicious meal of a taco, rice, beans, and chips! Such a wonderful experience for all! #WalworthJ1
Mrs. Cullen's class participated in a Bridge Challenge. Students had to make a bridge that was 45 cm long and sturdy. #WalworthSTEM #WalworthJ1

The Packers-Bears rivalry is strong at Walworth. Mr. Klamm and Mr. Wilson made a friendly bet the last Packers/Bear game. Whichever team lost the other had to wear the winning team's jersey. Mr. Klamm's Packers lost a heart-breaker! Good luck to Mr. Wilson's Bears! #WalworthJ1
The absolute LOVE of creating our very own gingerbread baby, brought JOY, ADVENTURE, and a few TEARS. The children in Ms. Boldger's junior kindergarten class had such FUN finding clues where he could be after escaping from the oven. As you can see, he did create some havoc with the staff as well. After much searching, we discovered his letter stating that he went to the North Pole to help Santa. This news was a relief (he didn't get eaten) and brought despair, "But I didn't get to say good-bye!" Our wonderful gingerbread baby did make a few return mystery visits as we found "selfies" of him posing by the beautiful gingerbread houses the kids made with their families! We were certain we would catch him then! He also returned with gingerbread shaped crayons and stockings for each child. Thank you Gingerbread BABY! Now, you and Santa need to rest! #WalworthJ1

Merry Christmas from Mrs. Janney's junior kindergarten class! #WalworthJ1
