Mr. Beauchaine and the 7th and 8th grade art club students had the fantastic opportunity to attend the National Snow Sculpting Competition in Lake Geneva. It is such an amazing opportunity for our students to not only see the pros work on their sculptures but to actually create their own. The students spend time planning, sketching, and making a clay model in the weeks leading up to the event.
When students first arrive they get a short lecture on safety, tools, and techniques from the pros. The students get around 2 and a half hours to carve, so they have to work quickly. What makes this experience so unique is that it is a National Competition and it is in our backyard. The weather can be difficult, but the students are very resilient and are so excited to be a part of this experience, that they sometimes forget about the temperature.
Congratulations to Ava, Frankie, Emma, and Alyssa whose sculpture "Treasure Chest with Hands Opening the Lid From Inside" won first place!

hundredth day of school! They had lots of fun with counting,
exercising, making posters Hi cutie, going on 100 cube search around
