The winner of "The Wizarding World with Mrs. Hajewski" experience at Winterfest invited two friends to join him in the magical fun! The students sampled Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and Chocolate Frogs. They each received a Harry Potter Lego blind bag. Also, they watched Harry Potter while they created their own wands, among other Harry Potter related projects. A magical and whimsical time was had by all! #WalworthJ1
Sentry was the destination for our junior kindergarten community field trip in April. We were so intrigued by the “behind the scenes” tour and we had so many questions and learned so much! We felt like professional bakers as we decorated delicious cookies too! Thank you to our friends at Daniels Foods Sentry - Walworth for the generous treats and amazing experiences. Sophia, a 5th grade student, recently shared her amazing story of courage and resiliency while fighting childhood cancer during a Guidance "heart to heart" presentation with her classmates. She is not only a cancer survivor, but her inspirational story has had a positive impact on so many of us here at Walworth! You can read more about Sophia in the Lake Geneva Regional News article. Sophia also received a hand-written letter from State Representative Tyler August thanking her for sharing her inspiring story! The Guidance Department and the Walworth Police Department have collaborated together to help protect Walworth School children and keep them safe. Officer Lewin talked with all kindergarten children about being safe kids and gave DNA Safety kits. It is important to safeguard our children and teach them protective behaviors. #WalworthProud #WalworthJ1
Our wonderful friends at the Golden Years provided some old traditional spring FUN for the children in Ms. Boldger's junior kindergarten class. Our "May Day" celebration included the exploration of spring pussy willows, and our dance to "tiptoe through the tulips," using scarves as props. The residents enjoyed our rendition of dancing around the very colorful maypole and we loved and appreciated our beautifully decorated May Day baskets that were gifted to us. We reenacted the story "Caps for Sale" and engaged in a sing-a-long accompanied by guitar. We thank Miss Chris and Miss Carol for leading us in this joyful morning. As part of Academic and Career Planning (ACP), the Walworth Guidance Department took all seventh-grade students to Gateway Technical College for a Middle School Expo. During the Expo, students had an admission presentation. They also had the opportunity to explore and learn about the programs offered at Gateway Technical College. The information learned gave all students the opportunity to build an understanding of self and their future post secondary education goals. #WalworthJ1
